Digital health and decision support

CAMO-Net is supporting the development of innovative technologies and practical tools that help improve antimicrobial use and patient care. Through collaborations across the network, researchers are developing digital platforms, artificial intelligence applications, diagnostics and decision-support systems that can help address antimicrobial resistance in diverse healthcare settings.

Antimicrobial prescribing app

The CAMO-Net Brazil Hub is developing an application to support antimicrobial prescribing in primary care. The tool is designed to help healthcare professionals make evidence-based prescribing decisions and forms part of a wider antimicrobial stewardship intervention in São Caetano do Sul.

Clinical decision support

Researchers in the CAMO-Net India Hub are developing context-relevant clinical decision-support systems designed to integrate into routine electronic medical record workflows. The project aims to support evidence-based prescribing while responding to local healthcare needs and practices.

Facilitating remote expertise

CAMO-Net Brazil is developing a web and mobile platform that connects local healthcare teams with remote infectious disease specialists. The project aims to improve access to antimicrobial stewardship expertise in resource-limited settings and support evidence-based prescribing through digital technology.

Artificial intelligence and data science

ADAPT-AST

Researchers from the CAMO-Net UK Hub are developing ADAPT-AST, an innovative approach to antimicrobial susceptibility testing that uses healthcare data and predictive modelling in order to better target laboratory testing and support personalised patient care.

Data platforms

Researchers are developing dashboards and data platforms to support surveillance and decision-making. From the Western Cape AMR dashboard in South Africa to city-wide antimicrobial dashboards in Brazil and advanced AMR data infrastructure in Uganda.

PathoPATH

Collaborative work between the CAMO-Net UK and Bangladesh teams has supported the development of PathoPATH, an analytical pipeline for infection tracking and hotspot identification using routinely collected clinical and microbiological data.

Diagnostics and biosensors

Developing Smart Lid technology

Researchers are developing new Smart Lid technology to support low cost, rapid molecular diagnostics for infectious diseases. The platform is also being evaluated across the CAMO-Net network to strengthen antimicrobial resistance surveillance and diagnostic capability.

Novel PCR technologies

We are developing innovative PCR technologies to improve the diagnosis of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. By combining molecular diagnostics with machine learning approaches, this will increase testing capability and support faster, more accessible diagnostic pathways.

Lactate monitoring in pregnancy

CAMO-Net UK is developing minimally invasive microneedle technologies to support continuous lactate monitoring during pregnancy. This will help identify women at risk of sepsis earlier, supporting timely clinical interventions while reducing unnecessary exposure to broad-spectrum antibiotics.
