The purpose of the CAMO-Net workshop travel grant is to facilitate attendance at a workshop or conference whose focus is on antimicrobial optimisation particularly in the context of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This grant will contribute to the professional development of researchers and professionals involved in antimicrobial optimisation. They are meant to enhance the recipient’s skills and expertise in the field, particularly across the following key themes:
- Technology and innovation: Explore the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning for clinical decision support, personalised medicine and integrating host-pathogen dynamics. Learn about point-of-care diagnostics, lab-on-chip technology, and antimicrobial biosensing for rapid and accurate diagnosis, as well as ensuring medicine quality.
- Context, culture, and behaviors: Understand the importance of organisational and individual behaviour change in promoting appropriate prescribing practices and stewardship programs gain insights into health-seeking and provision behaviors, and the socio-cultural determinants influencing AMR and healthcare utilisation.
- Medicines management: Discuss strategies for optimising supply chains and addressing shortages of essential medicines, ensuring continuous access to effective treatments. Learn about prescribing systems, monitoring frameworks, and quality assurance testing to prevent overuse, misuse, and inappropriate prescribing.
The travel grant can also be used for conferences/workshops to develop leadership, managerial, administrative skills.
In this application window, there are three streams available:
- Requires the applicant to have an accepted abstract before applying for the grant to attend a global science workshop/conference
- The applicant applies for a travel grant to attend a scientific workshop/conference at a CAMO-Net partner site confirmed by the site focal person
- The applicant applies for a travel grant to attend a self-identified workshop/conference
N.B One application form will be used, however for sections that do not require information according to the applicant’s stream of choice, please indicate as “’Not Applicable”
Calls for travel grant applications will be released every quarter. The maximum budget allowance per application is £2,000.

| Eligibility: Travel grants are only available for CAMO-Net Members. How to Apply for a CAMO-Net Travel Grant: A completed application form (see below) and a letter of support from your PI / institution.A copy of the accepted abstract submitted to the conference (if applicable).A copy of the letter of invitation from the conference / workshop (if applicable).
