About
Our National Hub in Brazil is based at the Faculdade de Medicina of the University of São Paulo. Led by Professor Anna Levin and Professor Silvia Costa, the team in Brazil focus on antibiotic prescribing decision support in the community, antibiotic prescribing interventions in a heterogeneous urban population in primary care, and surveillance of wastewater and asymptomatic carriers for measuring impact.
The city of São Caetano do Sul, a part of the greater São Paulo, has 165,000 inhabitants. It is participating actively in the study, involving its entire primary care system.

Professor Anna Levin
Associate Professor at the Department of Infectious and Parasitic Disease of The Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) and the coordinator of the Group of Hospital Infection Control in the Hospital das Clinicas of FMUSP.
Professor Silvia Costa
Associate Professor at the Department of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases of FMUSP and Head of the Laboratory of Medical Research. She is Coordinator of the Infection in Patients of the Hospital das Clinicas of FMUSP, and Deputy Coordinator of the Postgraduate Committee of the Department of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases of FMUSP.

Associate professor of the Department of Environmental Health of School of Public Health, University of São Paulo (USP), Coordinator of the Environmental Microbiology and Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory (MicroRes) and Vice-Director of the Centre for Research into Environmental Risks (NARA).

Bruno de Melo Tavares
ID physician and Master in Sciences. Works with Infection Control Service of Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP and Social Responsibility’s project at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz. Experience in programs to prevent HAI and stewardship programs implementation, especially in public hospitals.

Infectious disease physician with a Ph.D. in Sciences. Currently works as director of medical practices and education at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz and hospital epidemiologist of Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP. Experience in infection control and stewardship programs, with a strong background in coordinating multi-disciplinary groups for healthcare management.
Maristela Pinheiro Freire
Infectious disease physician with a Ph.D. in Sciences. She is currently working at the Infection Control Service of Hospital das Clínicas and of its Cancer Institute. Main interests: infections in organ solid transplants and cancer Institute. Experience in infection control, infections in immunocompromised hosts, and multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.
